Ghibli Museum

Went to the Studio Ghibli Museum this weekend. You can't take pictures inside so... Anyway the first one is in front of a Castle-esqe museum with a display of old childrens' books. The second is a statue on top of the Ghibli Museum. It looks much bigger in real life. Maybe 5 meters tall.

There were some really nice sketches by Miyazaki inside. I assume they were for storyboards of the movies he's made. He can do a lot with watercolours and pencil. They show a short film, with some of the characters from Totoro. It was quite fun, and did not require any understanding of Japanese. The alternative animation, a kind of strobe light claymation thing was cool to watch. They had warnings about looking at it in the brochure though.
